Our Respite Care Services enable individuals to comfortably remain in their own environments while providing caregivers with a much-needed interval of rest or relief. A period of respite may be a few hours to a few days in length. These short-term breaks can help to relieve stress, restore energy, and promote balance in your life. It also enables you to share the responsibility for caregiving while getting the needed support for yourself and your loved ones.
Our Program
Our respite providers are licensed foster parents who go through extensive screening and training. They have a history of providing short-term care for children. It is important to note the respite care does not mean your child is in foster care.
How does the process work?
- Your clinician determines that respite is right for your family, and adds it to the treatment plan.
- We match your child with a trained provider.
- You meet the provider at their home and ask any questions you may have.
- You determine whether this home is right for your child.
- We set up the first visit, which is usually a weekend.
- Parents can use a provider up to twelve days a year.
What happens in respite?
While the child is with the respite provider, they are actively working on their treatment goals. The provider fills out an extensive log, documenting the activities the child engaged in during the visit.
